Shown is a professor sterillizing a 50 liter fermenter in preparation for teaching a fermentation technology lab for students in Microbial Engineering (14, 251, 255, 258).
This is a wide angle view of a fermentation pilot plant. On the left is the control panel for a 300 liter, Dairy Crafts Inc. (DCI) of St. Cloud MN, fermenter next to it. To the right of the 300 liter DCI fermenter is a 150 liter Chemap fermenter with automatic sterilization capability, and to the right of that is another 150 liter Chemap fermenter with an operator standing on its observation deck. These fermenters all have control for temperature, pH, agitation, dissolved oxygen, antifoam addition, vessel pressure, and sparging air (136, 230, 251, 255, 258).
