Leonurus cardiaca, Mother wort, (Labiatae, the Mint Family), 4-15 dm in height, light pink floral rays, habitat: native of Asia, established as a causal weed over much of US and adjacent Canada (102, 103).

In Western medicine Mother wort was recommended as a treatment for vaginitis, menstrual disorders, calm epileptics, employed as a nerve tonic and a sedative. Recent scientific findings confirm the anti-epileptic effects, and also has shown cardiotonic, antispasmodic, hypotensive, diuretic, antioxidant, an immunostimulant effects, and has shown to be a possible preventive or treatment for atherosclerosis (88, 267).

Lilium philadelphicum

Lilium philadelphicum, Wood-lily, (Liliaceae, the Lily Family), 3-8 dm in height, bright orange flowers, habitat: in meadows and along shores from O. to Minn., B. C. and N. M. (102, 103).

It is known to produce 3-Rutinoside, phytomelin, eldrin, ilixathin, and melin C27H30O16, also known as rutin, is a capillary protectant (174, 238).
